Where do I Begin

Some of you may feel like trying to incorporate the liturgical calendar into your everyday routine is overwhelming! I sure did when I started, but even minor changes to my day in time grew to an increased sense of connection to God and an understanding of the faith that I can pass on to my children. I'm not a tech savvy person at all, and the process of creating this website and blog is more than overwhelming for me. But I feel God calling me to press through the challenges for a greater purpose. And so, I challenge you - if I can get through the hurdle of technology, you can get through the hurdles that the world throws at you. I hope you will join me in a growing in our Catholic faith together on this journey. I promise to continue learning and sharing ways to help make the journey easier and more fulfilling. So, where do you begin... the first step of course, make a commitment to try and try and try again. Every step you take is a step further than you were the day before, a step closer to Jesus.

A simple recommendation to increase your awareness of God's presence throughout the day:

Set a prayer alarm on your phone for a prayer you already know by memory. Label the alarm with the prayer name. Don't feel guilty if you have to snooze or even snooze twice. Sometimes you can't stop what you are doing to drop everything and offer a sincere prayer, but God knows you are trying. Offer yourself the grace He is already offering you and stay committed. Over time, even those around you will hear the alarm and know what it is for if you stop and say the prayer out loud. My kids hear my 12:30 p.m. St Michael alarm and automatically start saying the prayer no matter where we are or what we are doing - in the car, in the grocery store, at the zoo, you name it. Make sure it is a prayer you know though. Otherwise, you will easily get off track with completing the prayer regularly.
